Hundreds face dire situation following Floods affected several localities in Lower Shabelle region

Floods from River Shabelle have reportedly affected hundreds of residents in some ares around Lower Shabelle region raising fears of loss of livelihoods.

The floods affected several localities including Baladul-Amin and Mareeray where many families face harsh conditions, most of the people in those areas are homeless after their houses were washed away, sources said.

Speaking to local journalists, Sayid Mayow, a local officer stated that locals begun to flee from the areas across the river following heavy rains fell on the outskirts near the river.

However, the local authorities called Somalis fragile government and International aid organisations to support the fleeing people.
