Four Humanitarian Workers kidnapped in Gedo Region

4 April 2017 (SofoNews) – Suspected Al-Shabaab fighters have kidnapped four local aid workers in Gedo region of Southwest of Somalia, Somaliafocus reports.

The kidnapped aid workers are believed to be World Health Organisation (WHO) employees in Luuq, and sources confirm that their abduction took place while travelling near the district.

The four workers were heading to Maqaney settlement for vaccination campaign aiming to help the drought affected people mainly woman and children in the area, sources said.

No comments were available from WHO offices in the region, but further information suggests that the kidnapped aid workers were taken to Golweyn, about 30km away from Luuq town.
