24 March 2017 (SofoNews) – Following a fierce attack in Barawe on Thursday night, the security forces of South West state of Somalia have tightened the security in and around the city, local authorities said.
Hussein Barre, the nominated commissioner of Barawe city told the media that the state forces are on a high alert to respond any assaults from the al-Qaida associated group.
The al-Shabaab group has launched massive attacks on military bases in Barawe, casualties have been reported on Thursday.
Locals have seen armed forces patrolling neighbourhoods, taking further steps to search people in some places.
Somalia government remain to be fragile of al-Shabaab attacks, but the newly elected president called African Union Forces in Mogadishu known as (AMISOM) to eradicate the rebel group in two years time.
